Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has strongly protested the unlawful detention of Iranian citizens by Kuwait, stressing that Tehran reserves its right to a response.
In a statement posted on social media platform X late on Wednesday, Araghchi said that Kuwait has unlawfully attacked an Iranian boat and detained four Iranian citizens in the Persian Gulf in a clear attempt to sow discord.
“This illegal act took place near island used by the U.S. to attack Iran,” he said.
“We demand immediate release of our nationals and reserve right to respond,” the top diplomat noted.
Earlier, the Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has rejected the baseless allegations raised by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior regarding Iran planning hostile actions against Kuwait.
