New Delhi: On the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Rahul Gandhi said the nation remains united against terrorism and that India will never surrender to forces spreading hatred and fear.
Paying tribute to those killed in the attack, Gandhi said the country would neither forget the sacrifice of the victims nor forgive those responsible for what he described as a cowardly act. He added that the pain of the victims’ families is shared by the entire nation.
He said the memory of the innocent lives lost continues to move the country deeply and that their sacrifice would remain permanently etched in the soul of India.
Gandhi asserted that the country stood united against terrorism and violence last year, stands united today, and will continue to do so in the future. He said India would confront such forces with greater strength, unity and determination.
The attack was carried out last year in Pahalgam by the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, killing 26 people, most of them tourists from different parts of India.
Following the incident, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terror and military infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
