Tehran: Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf says Iran will not accept negotiations under pressure, warning that US President Donald Trump is seeking to turn diplomacy into capitulation.
In a message posted early Tuesday on the social platform X, Ghalibaf stated, “Trump, by imposing a blockade and violating the ceasefire, seeks, in his imagination, to turn the negotiating table into a table of surrender or to justify renewed warmongering.”
“We do not accept negotiations under the shadow of threat, and over the past two weeks we have prepared to unveil new cards on the battlefield,” he added.
A ceasefire between Iran and the United States was announced on April 8, aimed at creating space for diplomatic solutions to permanently end the US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran. The truce was set to last for two weeks.
Talks between Tehran and Washington started three days later on April 11 in Islamabad, Pakistan. The Iranian delegation was led by Ghalibaf, while the US side was headed by Vice President JD Vance.
The negotiations concluded without an agreement, though both sides have continued diplomatic contacts amid ongoing tensions.
