Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the BJP over the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, stating that the saffron party was trying to make “nari ( women)” a “slogan”, but the Opposition prevented them from achieving their goals.
“If the BJP can’t conduct a census, how will they provide reservation for women,” he asked.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Akhilesh Yadave said if the government conducts a census, the issue of caste census will arise. But this government doesn’t want to give them their rights. “We want to give rights to half the population, but who will decide which half the population will be,” he asked.
“The Opposition is now truly representing the country. The BJP first divides people into small groups and then intimidates them, saying they are in danger and should join us. The BJP will stoop to any level to gain power,” he alleged.
The SP chief further stated that the BJP’s CMF formula, or “Create misery and fear”, has now failed. “Their tactics have been exposed before the public. Therefore, their defeat has begun.”
“To break the unity, the BJP is now playing games with women. But now, women will defeat the BJP as the party only believes in male power.”
He said that every effort, every Bill of the BJP either benefits a few people or is a deception. This time, the party wanted to create a rift among women through this Bill and deceive them, but the unity of the opposition thwarted their plans.
“This is a victory of the narrowed public consciousness in the country against the BJP. With the help of the Women’s Reservation Bill, the BJP was trying to make women a slogan. This Bill, in the form of delimitation, also came to usurp women,” he said.
