Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov has stepped down from his position prior to a vote of no confidence initiated by the opposition concerning the tripartite coalition government.
In his address to the parliament, Zhelyazkov attributed his resignation to the growing discontent among the Bulgarian populace.
“We aim to act in accordance with the public’s expectations,” Zhelyazkov stated. “Power emanates from the will of the people. Both the young and the old have called for resignation. This citizen energy must be supported and reinforced.”
