The Yemeni Armed Forces says its missile force has launched a fission multi-warhead “Palestine-2” hypersonic ballistic missile against sensitive targets in Tel Aviv deep inside the Israeli-occupied territories.
In a statement on Saturday, the Yemeni Armed Forces said it carried out the operation as a response to Israel’s “crimes of genocide and starvation” against Gaza and the regime’s “aggression against our country.”
It said the operation “successfully achieved its objectives, thanks to Allah,” and caused “millions of herds of usurping Zionists to flee to shelters.”
The Yemeni Armed Forces pledged continued operations in defense of the country and to support “our steadfast brothers in Gaza until the aggression against them stops and the siege is lifted.”
Earlier in the day, Israeli media reported that air raid sirens were activated in the Israeli-occupied territories over an incoming missile strike.
As reported by Israeli media, the missile strike originating from Yemen sounded sirens in Tel Aviv and other communities across the occupied lands early on Saturday.
Israel's Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency response service has not reported any direct injuries resulting from the attack or from debris impacts.
The military subsequently asserted that its anti-air missile systems “intercepted” the projectile.
The development came two days after the Yemeni military claimed responsibility for a series of airstrikes against Israeli positions, using a “hypersonic ballistic missile” and three drones.
The Yemeni military spokesperson, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said on Thursday that the missile and one drone targeted designated sites at the Negev desert, while two other drones were aimed at Ramon Airport in the southern city of Eilat. He described the attacks as “successful.”
In light of the worsening genocidal war in Gaza that started in October 2023, Yemeni forces executed a strategic maritime blockade intended to obstruct the delivery of military resources to Israel while urging the global community to address the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Concurrently, they conducted multiple missile and drone attacks on key targets located in the Israeli-occupied regions, demonstrating their support for the Palestinians in Gaza.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have stated unequivocally that they will continue their operations until Israel puts an end to its ground and aerial assaults in Gaza.
Israel has killed at least 64,756 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in the besieged Gaza Strip since October 2023, according to the health ministry of Gaza.
