TEHRAN: A military source said Tuesday that the Yemeni Armed Forces have taken control of Jabal Matran in the al-Salu district of Taiz province.
The source told Yemen’s Saba news agency that significant quantities of military equipment, including armored vehicles and various types of weapons, were seized during the operation.
Meanwhile, Saudi fighter jets carried out six airstrikes on the al-Omari and Bab al-Mandab areas in the Dhubab district of Taiz on Monday, according to Yemeni media.
Al Masirah reported that the Hayfan area in Taiz was also targeted in three airstrikes.
No details have been reported on possible casualties or damage from the airstrikes.
Taiz, in southwestern Yemen, has remained a major front in the conflict between the Yemeni Armed Forces and Saudi-backed forces since 2015.
The al-Salu district is located in southern Taiz, while Dhubab lies along the province’s western coast near the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
