Iran FM warns US: Doubling down on failed policies will lead to further defeat

Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has condemned the latest economic threats issued by US officials, saying President Donald Trump’s claim of an “Economic D-Day” aims to divert attention from America’s deepening financial crisis.
In a post on his X account on Thursday, Araghchi responded to the latest economic threats by US officials against Iran, posting two images showing US national debt surpassing 40 trillion dollars.
He said, “The so-called ‘Economic D-Day’ is a diversion from America’s own crisis: unprecedented debt & surging interest costs.”
“Doubling down on failed policies will only bring further defeat—and enmity of Iranians. US economic terrorism threatens global economy and sovereignty worldwide.”, he added.
Araghchi’s remarks came in reaction to Trump’s recent allegation that the United States is launching an unprecedented economic operation against Iran and warning that countries and institutions assisting Tehran would face severe consequences.
