Iran declares origin of support for US military as ‘legitimate target’

Tehran: The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters has declared that the origin of any support provided to the “aggressor US military” in attacks against Iran’s sovereignty and territory would be regarded as a legitimate target for the Iranian Armed Forces.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the headquarters said, “The origin of any support for the aggressor US military in its aggression against the sovereignty and territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be a legitimate target of the armed forces.”
The statement followed an earlier announcement saying that the US military had launched attacks on parts of southern Iran in violation of a truce agreement and while the body of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, was in Iraq for funeral ceremonies.
The headquarters said Iran’s Armed Forces will deliver a “crushing response” to US aggression and terrorist acts, adding that they will “under no circumstances” allow US interference in the Strait of Hormuz or its management.
It reiterated that the only safe passage for commercial vessels and oil tankers through the strategic waterway is the route designated by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Earlier in the day, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian Army launched retaliatory strikes against US military positions in Kuwait and Bahrain after the US attacked southern Iran.
