Prime Minister Narendra Modi has offered a ceremonial Chadar to the tomb of Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti during the 814th annual urs at the Dargah Sharif in Ajmer on Monday.
Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju laid the velvet Chadar at the memorial tomb of Gharib Nawaz on behalf of the prime minister.
Rijiju, accompanied by Union Minister of State for Agriculture Bhagirath Chaudhary and Rajasthan Minister for Water Resources Suresh Rawat, took the chadar to the Dargah Sharif in a procession and laid it on the sacred tomb.
He also performed ziyarat and attended traditional rituals on the occasion. Khadims at the dargah have felicitated him in the Mehfil Khana.
“On the auspicious occasion of the 814th Urs of Khwaja Garib Nawaz, I had the privilege of visiting the revered Dargah Sharif, Ajmer and offering the sacred chadar at the holy shrine,” Rijiju wrote on his Twitter ‘X’ handle.
“I prayed for the peace, harmony and well-being of all. Khwaja Sahib’s timeless message of love, compassion and selfless service to humanity continues to illuminate our shared values and strengthen the spirit of unity”, he added.
