Mahmoud Abbas Issues Thought-Provoking Stance on Resistance Weapons

Mahmoud Abbas,President of the Palestinian Authority,claimed in a meeting with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair in Jordan that Hamas will not rule Gaza in the post-war phase. He insisted that Hamas must surrender its weapons and engage politically through the Palestine Liberation Organization,according to webangah News Agency citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Today.
Abbas stated that disarming the resistance is precisely what Israel seeks in the region. He called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and demanded the release of all prisoners.
He added that the only viable solution is Israel’s complete withdrawal from Gaza. Furthermore, Palestine must be able to fully assume its responsibilities in Gaza with support from Arab and international countries.
