Yemen’s armed forces have released footage of the boarding and sinking of the ship Magic Seas, whose owning company violated the Yemeni ban on Israel-bound vessels.
The footage shows the ship's crew refusing to respond to calls and warnings from the naval forces before military action is taken against them.
The scenes reveal the moment the Magic Seas was targeted by unmanned naval boats, followed by a raid by the Yemeni Special Forces, leading to the sinking of the ship.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for Yemen’s armed forces, said on Monday, “We will not hesitate to use appropriate force to prevent any ship belonging to this company that has dealt with the Zionist enemy and violated the ban on entry to occupied Palestinian ports.”
“We affirm that the ships of this company are a legitimate target for our forces wherever we can reach, and they bear full responsibility,” he said.
Saree affirmed that the Yemeni armed forces “will continue to prevent Israeli navigation in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea and to disrupt the port of Eilat until the Israeli aggression on Gaza stops and the blockade is lifted.”
MV Magic Seas was a Greek-operated, Liberian-flagged bulk carrier and was bound for the occupied territories.
The Red Sea, which borders Yemen’s coast, is a critical waterway for oil and commodities, but Yemen’s armed forces have banned the entry of Israel-bound ships since November 2023 in solidarity with Gaza and after Israel began its campaign of genocide in Gaza.
