Pope Leo XIV on Wednesday called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, according to a report by webangah News Agency.
During his weekly address at St. Peter’s Square, the pontiff stated: “In Gaza, the cries of mothers and fathers holding their children’s lifeless bodies rise to the heavens.”
“I repeat my appeal to those responsible: Stop this war. Release all captives and fully respect humanitarian law,” he emphasized.
The Pope also urged an end to the conflict in Ukraine while reiterating his earlier demand that Israel allow humanitarian aid into Gaza.
He expressed deep concern over Palestine’s deteriorating situation and renewed calls for “fair distribution of humanitarian assistance” and cessation of hostilities that disproportionately affect children, elderly civilians, and medical patients.
