The United Nations has confirmed that Israel increased its assaults on Gaza’s healthcare system by approximately 400% last week, leaving nearly all hospitals in the strip damaged or destroyed, according to a report by webangah News Agency.
Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, stated that Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure has been devastated by Israeli forces. He emphasized that four major hospitals—Kamal Adwan, Indonesian, Hamad, and European Gaza—were forced to suspend medical services due to military clashes, direct attacks, or evacuation orders from the Israeli army in just the past week.
“The World Health Institution has informed us that 4% of nearly 700 attacks on medical facilities in Gaza since October 2023 occured last week alone,” Haq noted. “This translates to 28 attacks—four times the daily average since the start of the war.”
The UN official highlighted that at least 94% of Gaza’s hospitals are now damaged or destroyed, with half rendered entirely nonfunctional and unable to provide care to Palestinians.
