Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav, who began his ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ on Tuesday, urged people to support him in forming a new government, arguing that only a change in leadership can effectively address the state’s pressing issues like unemployment, inflation, corruption, and inadequate education and healthcare systems.
Addressing his first public meeting in Masaurhi constituency, he said, “We will show you what real progress looks like. Our goal is not merely a change in government, but a transformation of Bihar itself.”
Recalling his achievements as Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, the RJD leader claimed that he had accomplished what Nitish Kumar and the BJP could not do in two decades.
He added, “Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has lost control over power. When a ruler loses grip, even a watchman refuses to obey. Those ruling in his name are doing grave injustice to the people of Bihar.”
Reaffirming his commitment to social justice, Tejashwi declared, “If there is injustice or oppression on the soil that gave birth to me, I will stand at the forefront against the oppressors. I will not rest until the youth, farmers, students, teachers, workers, businesspeople, women, and the poor receive justice and their rightful dues. This is my promise to all of you.”
He said that the Yatra’s objective is to fight for people’s rights and raise their concerns. He asserted that the journey is centered on public issues and will culminate in Vaishali.
“We will travel across Bihar, understand people’s problems, and take their voices to the Assembly and to the streets,” he said.
Outlining his vision for Bihar, Tejashwi highlighted that his core agenda includes creating jobs within Bihar, stopping migration, strengthening education and healthcare, and ensuring social and economic justice. At every stop, he promises a government focused on ‘kamaai, padhai, dawaai, sinchaai, sunwaai aur karwaai’ (employment, education, healthcare, irrigation, grievance redressal, and action).
Despite adverse weather, a massive turnout of people welcomed the yatra as it passed through Masaurhi, Jehanabad, Islampur, Hilsa, and Fatuha constituencies on Tuesday. Tejashwi stopped at several points, briefly interacted with local residents, and addressed public meetings.
During this five-day yatra, he will cover Bakhtiyarpur, Barh, Mokama, and Teghra constituencies on Wednesday. On Thursday, the yatra will move through Begusarai, Khagaria, Saharsa, and Madhepura, where public meetings will be addressed by RJD leaders.
