TEHRAN: The speaker of the Iranian Parliament said the legislature is considering a bill to suspend Tehran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency in response to the UN nuclear agency’s unprofessional conduct.
Addressing a Monday session of the Parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf reiterated the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program.
Highlighting a religious decree issued by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on the prohibition of nuclear weapons, the Parliament speaker said, “Iran has no plans for non-peaceful activities, but the world witnessed clearly that the IAEA has not honored any of its commitments and has turned into a political instrument.”
The Iranian Parliament is considering to pass a bill on the suspension of Iran’s cooperation with the IAEA as long as Tehran is not given tangible guarantees of the UN nuclear agency’s professional conduct, Qalibaf stated.
Denouncing the US’ military strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites as a declaration of direct American engagement in a war on Iran following the Israeli regime’s failure, the Parliament speaker said, “While we consider this (American) attack as a result of the Israeli regime’s strategic failure to achieve its objectives, we won’t tolerate it. We will definitely give a response that would make gambler Trump regret taking the act of aggression against our dear country.”
While the Zionist regime waged a war of aggression against Iran on June 13 and has been striking Iran’s military and nuclear sites, the US stepped in and conducted military attacks on three nuclear sites in Iran’s Natanz, Fordow and Isfahan early Sunday.
The Iranian officials said Tehran reserves the right to resort to its own options for reaction to the US attacks.
