Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi has ruled out reports that Iran had called for a meeting with the US President Donal Trump, saying such reports are 'media hype following specific goals.'
'No call has been extended on part of the Islamic Republic of Iran for meeting Mr. Trump,' said Qasemi to a question by report quoting the US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley as saying that Iranian parties had asked for a meeting the US president on the UN General Assemly sidelines.
'Such a report is ridiculous, aiming to wage a psychological war against Iran with a special goal.'
'Such claims or fabricated reports are media-psychological plans and misportrayals of special circles, aiming to divert realities unskillfully. Such methods are fully known to us and our archive is full of such forged reports. I emphasize again that the Islamic Republic of Iran has never asked for a meeting with Mr. Trump.'
