Lauding the efforts put up by the people who reach out for relief and rescue operations soon after any disaster, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged the people to become a risk conscious society and also understand the values of safety.
In his 41st edition of 'Man ki Baat', the Prime Minister said, ''We must become a risk conscious society, understand the values of safety. In our culture, we often speak about the protection of values, but we also have to understand values of safety. We must make it a part of our lives.''
He also appreciated the personnel of several organisations, who reached in time to rescue them.
''Be it the Fire and Rescue Services, National Disaster Response Forces, our Armed or Paramilitary Forces or even the NCC scouts, who spare no efforts in ensuring the safety of citizens,'' he added.
Stressing on the need to follow the rules to avoid any untoward incidents, Mr Modi said, ''Most of the accidents, barring national disasters, in some way or the other, occur due to our negligence. If we remain vigilante and follow rules, then we can avoid such situations.''
On BIMSTEC countries coming together to do a join disaster management exercise, he said, ''India led joint exercise for disaster management along with other countries like Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bhutan and Nepal. This was one of the greatest experiments of its kind.''
