Union Home Minister Amit Shah took a jibe at Congress and DMK while speaking at a rally on Sunday in Puducherry’s Karaikal town. The incident comes at a time when leader Congress government led by V Narayanasamy’s government collapsed in the poll-bound union territory. Taking a dig, Shah targeted the parties in Tamil Nadu and remarked over their alleged involvement in scams.
Hitting out at the Congress and DMK for their alleged involvement in 2G scam in 2017 and mocking MK Stalin, Shah said that all three 2G, 3G and 4G are present in Tamil Nadu. “2G means two generations of Maran Family, 3G means three generations of Karunanidhi Family and 4G means four generations of Gandhi family,” Shah said.
He further attacked Stalin and said, “I feel like laughing when I hear Stalin ji talk about corruption. Who did the 2G scam? Congress was involved in scam of Rs 12 lakh crore and DMK was in alliance with it at the time.”
A short clip of Shah addressing the generations of political families and comparing them with mobile network was posted and shared widely on Twitter.
Lashing out at the erstwhile Congress government in Puducherry, Shah alleged that V Narayanasamy, who headed it, gave “cut money” to the “Gandhi family” from Rs 15,000 crore Central funds. Merit had no place in Congress and Narayanasamy was made Chief Minister in 2016 though the party fought the then polls under A Namassivayam, now in BJP, for the former’s ‘servitude,’ Shah said as per a report in Times of India.
Addressing an election rally of BJP here, an enclave of the union territory, Shah claimed that the Congress government, which collapsed earlier this month after losing majority, indulged in “petty politics” over Central schemes meant for the union territory. With the aim of making Puducherry a ‘model’ UT, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave more than 115 schemes for its overall development, “but there was a government which wanted to do petty politics.”
“They were afraid that if the projects become popular in Puducherry, it may become detrimental (to Congress’ prospects). They did not allow the projects and the (then) Narayanasamy government is responsible for this,” Shah said.
Seeking a mandate for the BJP, he assured to make the small UT “the jewel of India and take it across the world,” if voted to power in the April 6 polls. Shah also charged Narayanasamy with focusing more on serving the “Gandhi family” in Delhi and giving “cut money”.
