Delhi Court extends judicial custody of Chidambaram till October 3 in INX Media case

A Special CBI Court in Delhi on Thursday extended the judicial custody of senior Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram till October 3 in connection with INX Media case.
Special CBI Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar also ordered the regular medical checkup of Chidamabaram.
The CBI today moved an application for extending the Judicial custody of Chidamabaram before the court by submitting that there is no changes in circumstances.
Counsel for Chidambaram opposed the CBI's submission and said that the regular medical checkup and adequate supplementary diet for Chidamabaram is required. He further submitted that Chidamabaram is 73 year old and is suffering from old age ailments and has lost his weight during judicial custody in Tihar.
The CBI Special Judge after hearing the submission on behalf of both Counsels extended Judicial custody of Chidambaram till October 3.
The CBI had registered an FIR in May 2017 in alleged irregularities in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance to INX Media for receiving overseas funds of Rs 305 crore in 2007, when Chidambaram was Finance Minister.
The CBI arrested Chidambaram from his residence in New Delhi on August 21.
