Meeting with Ali-Asghar Mounesan, head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, he also said that the number of Iranian tourists who visited Turkey last year decreased by 18 to 20 percent.
The diplomat emphasized the importance of people to people diplomacy in the form of tourism as a way of preventing misunderstanding.
'Turkish people do not have enough information about Iran's attractions,' he said noting that the information gap should be bridged through appropriate advertisement.
The Iranian official, for his part, said that investments in Iran's tourism sector have grown significantly which is reflected in the rise in the number of hotels as well as promotion of ecotourism all across the country.
Mounesan also said that introducing Iran's tourism attractions to the world, particularly to the people in neighboring countries, is on the agenda of his organization.
Climate diversity, natural attractions, history, medical centers, and religious places make Iran a good destination for tourists of different tastes, the official said.
