YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has appealed to the Election Commission to deploy additional central forces in Andhra Pradesh during counting of votes on May 23 besides taking action against the Chittoor district Collector and Rapthadu Returning Officer for blatantly supporting TDP during the election process.
Speaking to reporters after submitting a representation to the EC in New Delhi on Saturday, Party National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijayasai Reddy along with YSRCP leader Mekapati Raja Mohan Reddy said, ‘TDP has been allegedly planning to create law and order problem at places where the results are going against it and has been training the counting agents as provocateurs.
We have urged the EC to provide additional forces during the counting in all the centres to thwart any untoward incident.
We have also brought to the notice of the EC about the duplicity of voting by students whose names were not rounded off from the original voter list, despite casting their vote, and they were allowed to use the option of postal ballot, Mr Vijayasai Reddy said.
We have also made a strong appeal to restrain Chittoor district collector Pradyumna from taking part in the election duty on the counting day as he had behaved like a TDP worker and same is the case with Rapthadu Returning Officer in Ananthapur district.
On the ongoing controversy on repoll in five polling stations in Chandragiri constituency on Sunday, our candidate Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy has filed a complaint on April 12 itself but the district Collector had influenced the RO not to record any irregularities.
We have secured and submitted strong evidence to show that only one person was pressing the button in the polling booths while the dalits were just being marked with the indelible ink mark and were being sent out without allowing them to exercise their franchise.
The same methodology was employed in 2014 election as well and in all the five booths where repolling was ordered, all votes were polled in favour of TDP and other parties hardly got a single digit of votes which shows the level of rigging.
The repoll was ordered only after the CCTV video footage was provided to the EC and it was satisfied that there was a need for repolling. In fact we have asked for repoll in seven polling stations. At Rapthadu assembly constituency as well the RO has behaved as a TDP agent.
We requested the EC to refrain these two officials from polling duty on May 23 besides deploying additional central forces and take a second look at the postal ballot eligibility list, he said.
Party leaders Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, Butta Renuka, Avanthi Srinivas, P. Ravindrababu also accompanied.
